Geography Awareness week!!

                                     GEOGRAPHY NATIONAL AWARENESS WEEK!

I believe that geography awareness week is an extremely important week that teachers should make his/her students attentive to because there are many fun and exciting ways for students to express their appriciation to their community and help to make their community better. While on the website, i came across many ideas and new understanding of how i would incorporate geography awareness week within my classroom. The website includes "missions" that have fun activity booklets, posters, books, and videos which are all extremely beneficial learning tools and visual aids that will help students to uderstand the importance of geography awareness week. The website believes that a geographic perspective is an important way to understand every community. Also, students need to explore their communities through "missions" by taking pictures, mapping, and taking action. If students complete missions, they can earn points by showing a depper understanding of their community. An example of an activity I would use would be the "Adopt a lot" activity where students would accomplish and follow the following steps:
1. Sketch a place in the community that needs renewal
2. The teacher would teach the students about how communities change depending on how humans use the land.
3. Students will conduct a field study, help to restore a place in the community, and keep an observation journal based on their field study.
