The teachers use da book on the Hudson River to show the students can transportation and trade. They asked questions about the pictures and the infomation in the book afterwards to make sure that the students understood the information given throughout the book and for them to connect this new information to previous infomation abou transportation and trade from the previous lesson. In addition, they used a map on the smart board to indicate different ways for transportation to get from here to there in order to trade with different countries. The teachers showed different ways of transportation (train, truck, plane, boat) Then the group reviewed what was learned and gave practice worksheets to the students teacher for them to complete at a later time. The other group reviewed what they learned from the last sessions about the bank and money for students to recall previous knowledge. They also talked about needs and wants and how a need is something that people need in order to survive (clothing, shelter, food, water) and wants are not necessary in order to survive but people can buy them if they have left over money after buying needs (skateboard, toys, candy, pet, etc). The teachers connected with the students and got them to think about their wants by asking what they wanted for christmas. I thought this was a good way to get the students to connect what a want is because they do not need the things they want for christmas in order to survive. Lastly the group showed a needs and wants video for students to fully understand the difference between them and be able to fully understand and tie together everything learned during the lesson.
